Lumberjack Hair Care
Help NAU Students Access Hair Care Services & Products!

At Northern Arizona University, every student should have the resources they need to feel confident and comfortable. One essential but often overlooked need is access to hair care services and products—especially for students with textured hair.

The Challenge

Finding a trusted stylist or barber who understands textured hair is difficult and often expensive for many students. Some students must travel long distances or wait until they return home for quality hair care, which is not always feasible due to time and financial constraints. After members and leaders of the Black Student Union raised this concern in Spring 2024, NAU piloted a stylist and barber service for Fall 2024. The response was clear: students appreciated the service and wanted more opportunities to access it.Two students getting their hair cut.The Solution

Through this fundraiser, we aim to:

✔️ Provide eight advertised, scheduled hair care service days per year (four in the fall, four in the spring), allowing students to book appointments in advance with either a stylist or barber.

✔️ Ensure affordability and accessibility by covering the cost of stylists and barbers so students can receive quality services at no personal cost.

✔️ Expand access to hair care products and accessories by partnering with Louie’s Cupboard to stock and distribute specialized hair care products to students who need them.

Please make a gift today to support this initiative and service for our student body! Two students getting their hair cut.Our Goal

We want to raise $25,000 to sustain this initiative for the 2025-2026 academic year:

$5,000 to purchase and distribute hair care products and accessories through Louie’s Cupboard.

$20,000 to fund and advertise for eight scheduled hair care service days.

Why This Fundraiser Matters

This initiative is more than just hair care—it’s about belonging, confidence, and well-being. For many students, having access to proper hair care is a critical part of self-care and cultural identity. By contributing, you are helping ensure that students have the resources they need to feel at home and their best at NAU.

Thank you!

Thank you for supporting our project and helping students receive the care they need! Please also share this project with your loved ones and networks to help spread the word. Your support is much appreciated! Two students working the Louie's Cupboard booth.
