Care for Nahasdzáán

Care for Nahasdzáán—inspired by the Diné concept of caring for the Earth—offers students the opportunity to engage directly with community partners through hands-on service and environmental stewardship. This immersive experience helps students better understand the relationships between people, place, and responsibility, while building skills in collaboration, empathy, and applied problem-solving. By removing barriers to participation, Sociology aims to ensure that all students can take part in this transformative program, regardless of financial means.

Make Your Impact on Giving Day

Your support to the Sociology Student Travel and Research Fund helps expand access to Care for Nahasdzáán and strengthens its impact for both students and community partners. Funding allows more students to participate in this unique, field-based course without the burden of additional costs, while also sustaining meaningful, ongoing partnerships with local organizations.

  $1,000 Raised can...

  •  Provide access for two additional students to enroll in the course

  $5,000 Raised can...

  • Support offering the program three times per year, increasing consistency for community partners and access for students

Additional support helps cover student travel and engagement costs, reducing reliance on limited departmental funding
