NAU’s College of Health and Human Services puts students on the path to success in healthcare 

The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) is proud to prepare our students to become competent health professionals while inspiring leaders in practice, scholarship, and service.

Our programs reach beyond traditional campus boundaries, with students earning degrees in Flagstaff, Online and at NAU’s campuses across the state. CHHS strives to improve the health and well-being of the diverse communities we serve and has a vision to improve health in Arizona, the nation, and globally.

Health Professions Fund

The Health Professions Fund helps support: 

Recruitment efforts - Supports initiatives to recruit students into health professions including generating interest in the field in middle and high schools.

Build awareness of health careers - Supports the understanding of various health career opportunities and the diverse roles within the healthcare field.

Address healthcare workforce shortages - Supports alleviating shortages in the healthcare workforce and focuses on addressing the specific needs of Arizona’s healthcare system.

College of Health and Human Services Fund for Excellence

 The CHHS Fund for Excellence helps support: 

Student scholarships - Supports students in a specific department, major or discipline finance their education and their greatest area of need. 

Community clinic support - Supports scholarships for members of Arizona communities who utilize NAU's community health clinics and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. 

Clinical placement support for students - Supports clinical experiences for healthcare students to help ensure that the next generation of healthcare professionals is well- prepared to provide high- quality care to patients. 

Rural health care initiatives - Supports increased access to high- quality healthcare services in rural and underserved areas. 

Research efforts - Supports research to generate new evidence to help health care systems and health care professionals improve the lives of the patients they serve. 

Faculty support - Supports NAU faculty to help attract and retain high- quality talent, support their research and teaching efforts, and help keep NAU on the forefront of innovation and discovery.

Patricia Hunter Last Mile Challenge
Laurie Mittenthal has created a new fund in memory of her mother and alumna, Patricia Hunter Mittenthal, ’89. The Patricia Hunter Last Mile Fund supports currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who are members of federally recognized Native American Tribes and may be facing unexpected costs or financial hardship in their final year at NAU. She has pledged to release $26,000 to this fund once we receive 15 gifts to any fund for Native Americans on Giving Day. Thank you to Laurie for providing this challenge!
