Promote LGBTQ+ Success in STEM

Who We Are

In oSTEM, we believe that an encouraging and inclusive community is crucial for student success. Our organization is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), where members can authentically be themselves and pursue their educational and career goals with support. With a community behind them, students can overcome social, societal, and institutional barriers that hinder minoritized individuals.

We are the official NAU chapter of the national oSTEM (Out in STEM) organization, which hosts an annual national conference. This conference brings together members from all educational levels for networking, career development, research presentations, and discussions. This semester, we aim to send up to ten NAU oSTEM members to the 14th Annual National oSTEM Conference in Portland, Oregon, on October 17th-20th. This opportunity will greatly benefit our students and highlight NAU’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

How Can You Help

However, the costs of travel, lodging, and conference registration pose a financial challenge for many oSTEM members wishing to attend. While LGBTQ+ students face numerous obstacles in their education and careers, we aim to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent them from participating in this valuable experience.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the expenses of attending the national oSTEM conference for our members. Your support will enable more students to attend and alleviate financial burdens for LGBTQ+ students in STEM at NAU. By donating today, you can directly impact the future of these dedicated and passionate students. We are incredibly grateful for any contribution you can make towards our goal.

Thank You!

Thank you for your interest in helping us achieve our goals and support our community of future Lumberjack leaders in STEM!
