Paul Umhoefer Professorship (01939)
Honor the lasting legacy of Dr. Paul Umhoefer, a dedicated geoscientist and mentor who inspired generations of students at NAU. The Paul Umhoefer Endowed Professorship seeks to attract distinguished scholars whose groundbreaking work in tectonics and sedimentary basins will shape the future of the discipline. Your gift ensures that Paul's passion for research and education continues to inspire students and faculty in the School of Earth and Sustainability for years to come.
Geology Field Experience (1734)
This fund supports field courses and field trips within courses across our curriculum. Our students often express that they want and need more field experience as they are preparing for their careers, but it's hard for us to offer all of the unique and impactful field courses and experiences we would like to offer, now that NAU can no longer charge class fees to pay for associated costs such as van rentals, fuel, and supplies. We would love to and increase our offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate levels!
Graduate student community engagement (4314)
Our graduate student leaders approached us asking if we could fundraise to support their efforts to provide community building opportunities for the students across our grad programs. They are hoping to put on professional development and social events that will help students feel connected and supported in their programs and will help demystify the process of grad school, especially for first generation students. This is particularly important given how expensive Flagstaff is and how poorly NAU's grad programs pay - it's important to provide students a strong support system to help them be successful.
