Global Dental Brigades
Help make the world smile!

WHO WE ARE

We are a student-run club of pre-dental and hygiene students who are part of a global organization dedicated to providing dental care to underserved communities worldwide. This is Northern Arizona University’s first Global Dental Brigade, and our upcoming mission will take us to Guatemala in May, where we will collaborate with local volunteers and health professionals to offer free dental services and help implement sustainable health systems.

The primary goal of our trip is to provide pro bono dental care to communities that have limited or no access to dental services. Many of these areas urgently need dental services, and our team aims to alleviate that burden while promoting long-term health practices.

Guatemalans in rural areas face significant barriers to accessing dental care, but these brigades help bring much-needed treatment to them at no cost. With only 0.1 dentists per 10,000 people, the need for these dental services is critical.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

To support our efforts, we are looking for sponsors to support our trip and to gather dental supplies. A gift from you will help fund the cost of travel, lodging, transportation, and supplies for our members.

During our week-long clinic, these funds will help us gain the support of local dentists and medical personnel. Given that this dental clinic is a pop-up, we require supplies such as gloves, masks, prophy paste, and sterilization wipes to successfully run the clinic. Additionally, we will also be sending patients home with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss.

Serving a large community requires a substantial amount of resources, and every contribution makes a meaningful impact! Your generous support will significantly impact the lives of individuals who need it most.Dental Brigade students observing a procedure in a Guatemalan clinicTHANK YOU!

Thank you for generously dedicating your time and resources to support our brigade! This mission will make a profound impact by providing essential dental care to underserved communities in Guatemala, helping them lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. In Guatemala, we will have the opportunity to:

  • Shadow the local dentists while they complete their procedures
  • Conduct data informatics: taking down patient information
  • Practice intake: welcoming patients, asking about their medical history
  • Learn about the Guatemalan people and their culture
  • Lead Charla: information workshop to teach children the importance of dental hygiene!
