Elevate Maria and Steve Sanghi College of Nursing

Elevating the Next Generation of Nurses

The newly named Maria and Steve Sanghi College of Nursing (CON) is preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. With a growing nursing shortage in Arizona—felt mostly in rural areas—elevating our nursing students is more important than ever.

When you donate to our college on Giving Day, your gift supports nursing scholarships, clinical placements, and hands-on practice that ensures our students are well-prepared to meet the healthcare needs of communities across Arizona and beyond.

How Scholarship Shaped One Nurse's Journey

Already, the support of our generous Lumberjack Country has made an immense impact on NAU nursing students.

Hear directly from Myriah Yazzie, 2025 NAU CON graduate, on how scholarship shaped her personal and professional life:

"Because of this [Virginia Murray] scholarship, I was able to continue my journey as a first-generation Diné nursing student, a single mother, and someone determined to break generational barriers. Your belief in me made a real and measurable difference, not just financially, but emotionally. It reminded me that people and organizations like yours recognize the potential in students like me, even when our circumstances are challenging.

Your generosity helped lighten the load of long clinical hours, off-grid living, single parenting, and the pressures of nursing school. It allowed me to focus on becoming the nurse I am meant to be. I am committed to carrying forward the values of compassion, service, and excellence that this scholarship represents.

Thank you again for believing in me. Your support has changed my life, my daughter’s life, and the future of the patients and communities I will serve." - Myriah Yazzie, '25

Thank You for Your Generosity

Your belief in nursing ripples far beyond our classrooms. It reaches families who receive care, rural communities who depend on familiar faces, and patients who feel safer because a well-prepared, compassionate nurse is at their side. When you invest in our students and our team, you strengthen the health and wellbeing of entire communities—and that impact is felt long after graduation day.

Thank you for believing in nursing and in the communities our graduates will serve!
