Elevate the College of Education

At Northern Arizona University, we are building a future where every student, no matter their background, has the opportunity to turn ambition into achievement and education into opportunity. In the College of Education (COE), we train students who will go on to shape the lives of learners across Arizona and beyond.

On Giving Day, we're amplifying the College of Education Scholarship as our top priority.

Your gift to this area makes a direct and meaningful impact. Thank you for supporting COE students.

Support Student Scholarships in Honor of James Manley

James “Jim” Manley (1953 – 2026) devoted more than 40 years to teaching and mentoring Arizona students. From his elementary classrooms in Mesa to his role as a beloved professor and teacher-of-teachers at Northern Arizona University, he was always putting students first, making learning an adventure, and inspiring many to become educators themselves. In honor of his legacy as Arizona Teacher of the Year, a Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and a Milken Educator who believed deeply in his students’ potential, we invite you to support his passion and give to the College of Education scholarships so future teachers, educational leaders, and mental health providers in Arizona's schools and communities can carry forward his passion, creativity, and commitment to changing lives through education. Give to the James T. Manley and Julie Kley Teacher Leader Scholarship this Giving Day!

Now is an especially important time to support scholarships. Many students who want to teach struggle with the cost of finishing their degrees. Your support helps remove those barriers and allows future teachers and leaders to carry on Jim’s passion for education. Giving now honors his legacy in the most meaningful way—by helping the next generation step into the profession.

Without student scholarship support, many future teachers, counselors, and education leaders may not be able to finish their programs due to financial barriers. This means fewer well‑prepared educators entering Arizona’s schools at a time when the state already faces serious shortages.

If you would like to support students and education as James Manley did, please consider donating to the James T. Manley and Julie Kley Teacher Leader Scholarshipor another COE scholarship that directly supports our students. You can find the full list of COE scholarships here.
