Meet Vicky Oldham
Vicky Oldham (Class of 2026) did not follow a conventional path into higher education. She started college in the 1970's but left before she finished her degree to pursue a successful career as a commercial artist, including freelance sculpting work for major companies and the launch of a fine porcelain sculpture studio. She travelled, lived abroad for several years, had numerous adventures, and experienced profound loss.
When she was ready, she chose NAU Online to complete the college degree she had started nearly 50 years prior. She has approached her studies with curiosity and interest, applying what she has learned in her online classes to what she experiences in the real world. One of the most meaningful highlights of her time at NAU has been her coursework in research and writing, which led her to complete a case study documenting an original discovery; the work was later published in News of the Lepidopterists' Society.
She now hopes to pursue teaching, bringing together her lifelong experience in art with a deepened appreciation for natural history shaped by her recent studies.

- Sponsor the development of Open Education Resources (OER) for up to five online courses, which would save all students in those courses from having to buy expensive textbooks or other course materials.
