Elevate School of Social Work

Elevating NAU's School of Social Work (SSW)

A Social Work degree from NAU will provides students with the professional knowledge, values, and skills needed to help people experiencing overwhelming life challenges such as substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, homelessness, and death, as well as mental, behavioral, and physical illness or disability.

Our faculty and staff are committed to nurturing a vibrant learning environment that empowers students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. Through innovative teaching, research, and hands-on experiences, we prepare students to excel in their fields and contribute meaningfully to society.

Our Giving Day Priority

Right now, rural health is an ongoing and pressing need. Social Workers are an important part of this conversation, because they provide crucial support for these communities. Social Workers support families by providing individual and group psychotherapies, coordinating interdisciplinary teams of providers, and so much more.

Without travel support, however, it is very difficult for NAU Social Work students to accept placements in this these settings. That's why, on NAU Giving Day, we're highlighting the fund below:

Social Work Innovation Fund

With additional support to the Social Work Innovation Fund, we would be able to help many more students to be placed in rural field settings, fulfilling the mission of the SSW, bolstering students' career prospects, and improving health and well-being in rural communities. Donor investment would compliment our existing resources for this initiative, obtained by SSW staff and faculty donations), synergize that giving (potentially prompting staff and faculty to give more), and have a huge impact on our ability to train SW students to serve rural communities.

Thank you for considering a generous donation to this fund.
