Elevate WGS on NAU Giving Day
Through interdisciplinary exploration, Women and Gender Studies (WGS) students contextualize the construction of our realities, how they affect people, and how change occurs in these realities within institutional systems and on a global scale.
Our students apply WGS perspectives and incorporate their own interests to understand the world through in-depth discussions, internships, community projects, art creation, literature, media, practical applications, and other engagement. Our graduates use their skills in a variety of areas, including non-profits, domestic violence shelters, sexual assault prevention education programs, arts and media agencies, healthcare organizations, politics, law, business, and more.
In the next year, we will join forces with the Ethnic Studies program to form the Department of Social Transformation. This department will build from our disciplines’ long-standing traditions of impactful, innovative programming that invites students from untapped communities into academic spaces while welcoming all to learn about others.

The Janet K Schnorr Memorial Scholarship
Designed for WGS majors, this scholarship allows students to engage in research projects and complete degree requirements while maintaining high academic excellence. Contributing to this memorial scholarship continues the tradition of promoting interdisciplinary perspective during coursework impacting students’ future achievements.
Women’s Studies Program Scholarship Fund
Support of this fund allows the department flexibility to develop WGS-specific, timely programming throughout the year. This programming, designed with a focus on addressing emerging concerns and applying emerging practices, encourages expansive, insightful discussions with our unique student body as well as the NAU and Flagstaff community.
