Elevate the Dr. Kathy Wiebke, NBCT, Legacy Fund on Giving Day
Dr. Kathy Wiebke dedicated her life to uplifting the work of teachers. She was our state's first National Board Certified Teacher and greatly advanced the Arizona K12 Center in her 17+ years as its executive director, inspiring and supporting thousands of educators across our state to pursue excellence for the benefit of Arizona’s students.
Kathy was tireless in her work to better education. As Arizona’s first NBCT, she understood firsthand the transformative impact of having an excellent teacher for every student. She made it her life’s work to ensure that educators had access to the highest quality professional learning and support for demonstrating their accomplished practice. She often said that educators deserved the same quality of experience afforded to professionals in any other field. Kathy set a new standard for professional learning and teacher support: one rooted in dignity, excellence, and respect.
Kathy’s conviction in teachers as professionals is woven into the Arizona K12 Center: in the strength of the National Board community, in the expectations held for educators, and in the culture of what it means to be part of a learning community.
We are deeply grateful for Kathy’s extraordinary contributions and the lasting impact she made on education in Arizona.
The Dr. Kathy Wiebke, NBCT, Legacy Fund will continue her life's work to advance education in Arizona for the benefit of students. Funding will support National Board Certification efforts across Arizona.
