Where Animation Comes to Life
We are the Squash and Stretch Society, also known as the Animation Club at NAU!
Our name comes from a fundamental principle in animation: “squash and stretch,” the technique that gives movement life, exaggeration, and personality. And honestly? That’s exactly what our club is about too.
We’re a creative space for students who love animation in all its forms, from traditional 2D and 3D graphics to stop motion and experimental media. Whether you’re dreaming of working in the industry or just animating for fun, you’ll find a place here.
Through workshops, game nights, and collaborative events, we create, experiment, and grow together. More than anything, we’re a space where creativity feels supported, and ideas can come to life.
Taking Our Creativity to the Next Level
As the Animation program at NAU continues to grow, we want to grow with it.
This year, we’re raising funds to expand opportunities for student animators and bring bigger, more exciting experiences to our community.
Your support helps us:
- Launch our first-ever Student Animation Film Festival — SaSS Watch (including venue costs and prizes for student creators)
- Attend major industry events like LightBox Expo, where students can network and learn from professionals
- Host more workshops and skill-building sessions focused on both animation techniques and navigating the industry
- Table at NAU and local community events to showcase student work and grow our presence
All named donors will even receive a special thank-you at the beginning and end of SaSS Watch, our way of recognizing the people helping us bring this vision to life.
