Where passions become professions
The College of Art and Letters encompasses the humanities, creative arts, and language studies, but we represent much more than a collection of academic departments. Our students become teachers and interior designers, historians and philosophers, lawyers and professional writers, and imaginative leaders across career paths.
We help students build an understanding of the world around them and express their knowledge and creativity. We guide them on the path to finding their voice and vision while honing analytic, artistic, and linguistic abilities—all while growing into a talented professional with the skills to succeed in a wide range of modern careers.
NAU Giving Day is a great opportunity to support the arts and humanities at NAU. Here are some funds that are helping to advance creativity and scholarly endeavors across CAL for students, faculty, and the community.
- All-Steinway School - It is our fundamental mission to provide the highest quality experiences and instruments for every music student. This focus on student excellence is why the Kitt School of Music launched the All-Steinway School Initiative. To earn the “All-Steinway School” designation, 90% of our pianos must be Steinway-made. We are very close to achieving this goal! Donations to this fund will help CAL cross the finish line even faster thanks to a special challenge by Sally and Don Brooks - they are matching donations to the All-Steinway School fund up to $10,000 on Giving Day!
- College of Arts and Letters Dean's Fund for Excellence - The fund provides flexible dollars that allow a variety of needs to be met each year in CAL. From hosting guest lecturers to helping students attend competitions and conferences, this fund is an essential way you can support the activities of students, faculty, and staff in CAL. Christopher Boyer, CAL Dean, will personally match all gifts to this is fund up to $3,000. Give and have twice the impact on CAL!
- Humanities Incubator - NAU plays a critical role in addressing the challenges we face today in our communities. The Humanities Incubator in the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), will foster an enhanced understanding of the arts and humanities, promote civil discourse, and ultimately strengthen and enrich our communities. The incubator will encourage meaningful relationships between CAL and other community organizations, grassroots efforts, museums, galleries, archives, and other cultural heritage organizations.
