Lumberjack Community Impact Fund

Lumberjacks are community builders. And we've built a great community on and off campus. 

NAU works hard to create a great place to live, study, and work. And our Lumberjack community extends beyond the boundaries of campus, too - NAU has one of the best alumni networks in the country! 

A gift to the Lumberjack Community Impact Fund supports clubs, organizations, and activities at NAU that propel student, staff, and alumni engagement, support self-discovery, and build community collaboration.



When you give to the Lumberjack Community Impact Fund, your donation supports:

Student Groups and Organizations Fund – provides support to the Leadership & Engagement Office, which brings together student organizations, student leaders, fraternity & sorority life, and engagement events and programs to support and deepen the holistic student experience.

Associated Students of Northern Arizona University (ASNAU) – ASNAU, NAU’s student government organization, serves to support, advocate, and vocalize the needs of students while creating an atmosphere that encourages student input and involvement.

Staff Advisory Council – NAU’s Staff Advisory Council (SAC) provides a forum for discussing the role of staff, and for understanding, sharing, and supporting staff interests throughout the university community. SAC advocates for the needs of staff and serves as a conduit for communication and information exchange between university staff and executive leadership on existing and proposed policies, procedures, and programs that impact or are of interest to staff. SAC also provides and foster opportunities for community outreach and engagement.

NAU Alumni Association (NAUAA) – The NAU experience doesn’t end when you earn your degree. The Lumberjack alumni network stretches far and wide. No matter what the future brings, Jacks are always part of a caring and connected community that offers personal and professional support. The NAUAA fosters these connections through the NAU Alumni Chapter Program (NAU Near You), hosting events and reunions, honoring distinguished alumni, and more!  

Lumberjacks Thrive Program –  The Lumberjacks Thrive program strengthens the Lumberjack community by connecting alumni and students in a meaningful way. The program brings students and alumni together through an externship program that supports career exploration and discovery. Additionally, a grant program connects student organizations and alumni to celebrate their NAU ties. Learn more about the program on the Lumberjacks Thrive Program website.

Presidential Challenge sponsored by President José Cruz Rivera and Dr. Rima Brusi
President José Cruz Rivera and Dr. Rima Brusi created a fund to support the unique challenges faced by students who are also parents – a role president Cruz Rivera understands since he was a parent while attending college. On Giving Day, they will personally donate another $2,500 after 500 donors make a gift to any fund. Go Jacks!

NAU Honors Distinguished Speaker Series - Frances Haugen
Advocating Accountability and Ethics for Big Tech: An Evening with Facebook Whistleblower Frances Haugen The NAU Honors Distinguished Speaker Series showcases inspired thinkers from all disciplines addressing issues of vital community interest. The presentations will engage and enlighten students and community members about critical issues facing the region, the nation, and the world. During her time at Facebook as the lead Product Manager on the Civic Misinformation team, Frances became increasingly alarmed by the choices the company makes prioritizing their own profits over public safety and putting people's lives at risk.
