Tau Sigma Honor Society was founded nationally in 1999 for transfer students. Our local chapter has been around since 2013, so we are celebrating our 10th anniversary in April. In addition, we host events for our members and the transfer community as a whole.
Fundraising Needs/Goals
Book scholarship - $3,000
The local NAU chapter created a way to help members with a $100 book reimbursement at the beginning of each semester. First, members are emailed about when the scholarship is open. Then, 2-8 winners are randomly selected for the fall and spring semesters. They only need to show proof of purchase for the textbook costs to receive reimbursement.
We need generous donors like you who will help us as we want this initiative to be financially sustainable over the next three years. Tau Sigma members from all NAU campus locations can meet the eligibility requirements as long as they email us when the scholarship is open each semester.
Raising $3,000 for the next three years will allow us to give out 5 book scholarships of $100 in the fall and spring semesters. If we receive more than $3,000, we can give out additional $100 book scholarships to members within the same timeframe.
Our next goal is to host a 30-day crowdfunding initiative in the Fall 2023 semester to help us with event giveaways to encourage involvement, new member scholarships as not all eligible transfer students can afford the $50 one-time membership dues, honor society graduation cords, and Tau Sigma T-shirts to encourage transfer student connections.
Thank you for helping our student organization! We are thrilled to be celebrating ten years, and we know we are here because of the legacy of transfer students and staff members who came before us.
